Director's Cut Synopsis The universe is a small village in northern India. Primarily the characters in this universe represent the modern vs the orthodox clashes through small sketches. The story revolves around the case to solve missing babies in the village and how each character takes part in solving the issue. The story ends with a revelation that it was all the result of their day-to-day practices affecting everyone's health in the village. These usually include some of the following tropes of: Information overload Using technical jargon language Being preachy Staying at the level of “awareness building” In recent years, there has been an increased governmental focus on disseminating information using digital modes of delivery. As a part of this, the Poshan Gyan dashboard – a national digital repository of communication collateral that targets health and nutrition promotion – was launched by NITI Aayog in 2021. Unfortunately, a large part of the digital collateral available is still plagued by the issues of traditional modes of communication. Approach To bridge the gap between information overload and narrative storytelling, our client approached us with the idea of using animation as the primary medium. According to the client, the constraint was to create a short story that was not direct or preachy. Our team of animators, designers, and filmmakers took advantage of the medium's versatility to create characters and a world that are relatable to the target audience. Shamitabh, our protagonist, guides us through the story from the sets of ABC (Ab Banoge Crorepati), a rendition of the popular reality TV show. Mazru, our antagonist, is a monster personified as malnutrition who kidnaps infants/babies who are vulnerable to malnutrition at a young age. Different supporting characters and our simple village setting aided us in conveying relevant information in an effective and memorable manner. For the film's environments, we created frame-by-frame 2D character animation with 3D models and sets, as well as digital painting with watercolor treatment. This fusion of mediums was a challenge that we successfully overcame by structuring our workflow in a way that allowed us to finish the film in a timely manner. Another challenge in this film was the development that occurred during COVID lockdowns, and the entire post-production was done remotely, with team members located all over the world. None of the talents were under the same roof, so they coordinated via video calls and screen shares. Impact/Learnings The impact of this film helped researchers on the field in the extreme rural areas of northern India in understanding that the characters in the story were effective in communicating the message, but it also revealed new insights in front of the target audience that a simple dialogue like "kali shakti" made them think of black magic and they were more intrigued by the fact that there were very few female characters leading the story, which was not the intent. This also clarified our preconceived notions and the knowledge that people living in extremely rural areas have.

The story is around two companions, Golu and Siki, both in their early 30's. They live in a little village in West Bengal. Siki is a shrewd, advanced, savvy man with less compassion where as Golu is a helping, straightforward man who carries on with a genuine life. The film starts when Golu gets an orchestrated engagement proposition from his inaccessible uncle. We see his purposes behind not getting hitched but rather then likewise discover an adjustment in the character and afterward his readiness to get hitched. The film experiences the manner of thinking and learning of characters shape this occasion. We see absence of appetite to change and advance. The film catches the climate around them which resembles a dormant water. The country's youth are forced to leave their native country in pursuit of a better future in other countries due to this depressing reality. Ben, a dedicated person who embarks on a transforming trip, is encouraged by meeting Jacob, a strong 60-year-old guy living with an autoimmune condition, to make a decision in the midst of this depressing environment. Ben is aware of the youth's enormous potential. He realizes that they must band together and fight for a brighter future for their country in order to effect change and topple the corrupt regime. "Hands That Fed Me" is a powerful tale of hope, resilience, and the strength of collective action. It highlights the significance of young people taking a stand against corruption and reclaiming their nation's destiny.
